Arthur Conan Doyle, a follower of Darwin and famous for his Sherlock Holmes, was inspired by paleontologists and wrote the novel with prehistoric creatures. The Tepui Roraima is considered as the model for the fictitious table mountain in the film. The rock pin, through which the researchers in the film reach the top of the table mountain, is at Tepui Kukenán. The silent film from 1925 is an interesting film document. (more…)

A fascinating film. Stefan Glowasz, Kurt Albert and Holger Heuber, all famous in the climbing scene, started the climbing of the Roraima on its north east side from Guayana in February 2010. The first trial failed. They had to come back... A report on this expedition in the magazin GEO sparked the wish in me to hike up to this mountain, whereby I used the way "La Rampa" in December 2013.
