Tourists were not allowed for a long time and later only limited to Mustang, which is north of Pokhara and reaches to the Chinese border. Caravans have brought salt from Tibet to India and grain into the highlands through Mustang for centuries. The way is one of the simplest Himalayan crossings, as the passes never exceeds 4,500 m. The scenery is gorgeous and the tibetan people are very friendly. The houses in the villages cling to each other and leave only space for narrow alleys and alleyways. We walked 15 days: 218 km, about 11,000 altitude meters up and down, minimal height: 2,660 m and maximal height: 4,210 m.
