San José, the capital of Costa Rica, is a good staring point for trips to all interesting national parks of the country. I have been in the cloud forest of Monteverde, saw there sloths, toucans and poisonous snakes. I went by bus and boat to La Fortuna, which is near by the Arenal Volcano, where I enjoyed the hot springs. Next I have been in the Manuel Antonio National Park, where I have seen despite the crowds many animals. I drove from the southwest via San José to the northeast of the country to the Tortuguero National Park, where I have seen very impressiv Plumed basilisks.
